A few years ago
I decided to make New Year Resolutions that were fun to do
instead of the "lose weight" "be more organized" "be on
time"… I came up with items like "go to Las Vegas" or even
just, "go someplace I haven't been before".
In 2009 I was
turning 50, so I decided I needed to have some good
resolutions. I made a list, Las Vegas, a Steeler game, a
Yankee game .. and decided for myself I wanted to have a
birthday party, a fun one. Since I had been asking some
friends to do pole dancing with me and no one was
interested, they thought I was crazy, I decided I would
have a pole dancing party for my birthday. But, I wanted
to be able to actually do it by the time my party
arrived. In January 2009 I emailed Shelley at Spin on Fitness
and nervously came to the first class.
I laughed so
hard but was surprised that I was actually able to do some
things. I'm not known for having rhythm but each week I
felt more and more confident, and stronger. It is amazing
how I found muscles I didn't know I had in my arms,
shoulders, and upper back. Along with the bruises my legs
are toner. And it is fun.
It wasn't long
before each week I looked forward to class and found
myself going out and getting a pole for myself. And while
I do enjoy working the pole at home, the fun and
encouragement in class is the best.
I did have my
birthday party there, and managed to get several of my
friends there with me, along with the new ones I have made
in class. And it was a blast! So much so that they
wanted to come to the Sexy Santa Workshop as well. My
niece now considers me her crazy aunt, but she is right
there with me.
It is the best
exercise class I have ever taken, probably because it is
just so much fun that I don't consider it exercise.
Thank you
